Human Computer InteractionPaper details:

The task is to design, implement, analyse and report an experimental evaluation:

The Problem:
When prospective PhD students or industrialists want to find information about Computing Science & Digital Media research at RGU

Your task is to design, implement, analyse and report an experimental evaluation study that addresses the question:

Does experience in the use of technology affect observed and perceived usability when searching for information on a website.

The Tasks:
You must carry out the following tasks:
1. Set general usability criteria for finding information about Computing Science research at RGU. Define up to five usability criteria. Specify how each criterion might be measured and provide the scale of measurement that might be appropriate.

2. Write two hypothetical Stakeholder Scenarios (approx. 100 words each). Be clear that the emphasis should be on the important characteristics of the stakeholders. Provide a Stakeholder diagram.

3. Write at least two Problem Scenarios with Claims (approx. 100 words each). Claims should be presented as a summary table. Each scenario should be accompanied by an annotated version that explains the core components of a scenario: Setting, Actor(s), Task Goals, Plans, Evaluation, Actions and Events.

4. Based on the Usability Criteria and the Scenarios design and implement an experimental evaluation study. Produce an experimental design that addresses the question of whether experience in the use of technology affects observed and perceived usability when searching for information on a website. Use the standard report structure provided below to guide you in deciding what information needs to be reported. Think about experience in terms of e.g. novice vs. experienced users etc. Choose an appropriate treatment design (e.g. between, within or mixed) and provide a factorial diagram. Define your independent and dependent variables. Describe materials and equipment and the procedure. Collect data from ~10 users. Summarise results with e.g. averages and SDs. Report statistical tests. Interpret and discuss your results and reflect on the study. (NOTE from client: data does not have to be collected from actual people, as long as it is realistic enough).

NOTE from client:
The original briefing is attached under materials. I have also attached a report outline which I have created intending to write this myself. I have also attached some materials covered in the lectures to give an indication of the content and its complexity (or simplicity).
